Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singapore that offers Singapore’s mainstream academic curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to more than 1000 students and is one of the fastest growing special schools in Singapore. The brief was to build and curate an exhibition held in conjunction with Singapore’s 50th national jubilee as a tribute. The 50 points of view exhibition will display a collection of illustrations, mementos and essays of the things Pathlight students love about Singapore.
The artworks were to be treated with extra care because of their delicate structure, thus the method of how each artwork is being displayed has to be carefully considered. We opted for an ‘off the wall’ display because of the varying weight of several art pieces which a conventional mounting method will not be able to hold. A custom designed rack had to be created to suspend and hold the weight of the heavier pieces while keeping the works undamaged. Lamps are also mounted onto the rack to provide sufficient lighting across the exhibition space.
